Whitney Wei is a writer, editor, and curator based in Berlin. Over the past decade, she has shaped global discourse on dance music and club culture, including tenures as Editor-in-Chief of Resident Advisor and Electronic Beats. Her work has appeared in The Guardian, BBC Radio 1, Vogue, Highsnobiety, Numéro, and Pitchfork, among others. Her current project, MODERN RITUALS, reinterprets contemporary culture through ancient philosophy—informed by immersive study at temples and monasteries across Germany and Taiwan. She is currently working on a novel about meaning-making in nightlife.
Throughout her career, Whitney has worked with cultural centers such as the Feuerle Collection and SAVVY Contemporary, and led workshops and panel discussions at festivals including Terraforma, Unsound, Dekmantel, Amsterdam Dance Event, Nuits Sonores Brussels, Nuit Sonores Lyon, Reeperbahn, CTM, and C2C. She has also served as a mentor for the Factory Berlin, Sónar+D, and Beats by Dr. Dre artist residency program and was selected as a Shesaid.so and Native Instruments Alternative Power 100 Music List Honoree. She was a member of the Clubcommission Berlin ‘Day of Club Culture’ Board of Trustees and a two-time judging panelist for the UK Youth Music Awards.
