Crane Over Midheaven

Crane Over Midheaven

Dimensions: 65 x 50 cm

Original medium: Japanese ink brush, watercolor, and ink stamps on paper.

A reimagining of No. 1 and No. 102 from Utagawa Hiroshige’s One Hundred Famous Views of Edo, Crane Over Midheaven weaves together landmarks of the Chinese diaspora throughout the American Midwest including Chicago Chinatown’s Pui Tak Center and Nine Dragon Wall, and the Chinese Cultural Center in De Moines, Iowa. Cranes, symbols of longevity, frame the piece.
